German expressionist, born and died in Hamburg. During the Nazi period he was regarded as a “Degenerate” artist and banned together with many of the top German expressionists. His main themes were urban and factory view and his style reminded to the one of Karl Schmitt-Rottluff.
Otto Schirop visited Macedonia in 1931. There is a painting entitled “Blick uber den Wardar auf die Zitadelle von Skoplje, 1931” ( “Vuew at river Vardar from thе Castle of Skopje”) sold by auction house Hans Stahl , Hamburg , Germany (lot number 210) on 15th June 2002.
