Born in Geislingen/Steige, died in Ulm, studied art at the Art academy in Munich and Stuttgart. He was a German military painter during the world war one. He started his military campaign as a volunteer in the artillery unit at Italian front, and came to Macedonia in 1916 with the Bavarian Pioneer company unit. There he got the order from the army command, at the war front in Macedonia “as a war painter to bring out a book that through rich illustrations show what this frontline is all about, whether martial or cultural or natural history, can offer “(Quote Ulmer Tagblatt, 23.12.1933). His artistic period in Macedonia was described in the book: „Von Bildhauern und Malern der Künstlergilde Ulm“ published in 1929.
