Born in 1884 in Le Havre, died in 1965 in Montreuil. Had exhibitions in Paris at the Salon of French Artists in 1928. He contributed with several drawings in the well-known French art book ‘la Guerre Raconté par Nos Généraux” in the 1920 dedicated to the Great war from a French perspective.

 

Andre Fremond was in Macedonia during 1916 and 1917, likely in the role of an official war painter during the Great War. He painted at least two paintings in this period:

“Pope et marchands de fruits: Marché de Gumindgé (1916) (a priest and the fruit merchant, Market in Gumidze 1916)”, gouache on paper, sold by the auction house Claude Aguttes S.A.S. Paris France on 2nd June 2008 (lot number 220).

“Berger marédonien et son troupeau en montagne, Isvor 1917 (Macedonian shepherd and the troops in the mountains, Izvor 1917)»,gouache on paper sold by the auction house Schmitz-Laurent (S.V.V.) on 18 March 2007 (lot number 30)

The painting “Les Buffesm souvenir de Macedoine 1917”, gouache on paper was sold by auction house Rossini, France on 29th June 2012, lot number 75 to the author of this book.
