Albert Lemasson was born on August 29, 1892 in Saint-Mars-du-Désert in Loire-Atlantique. He was exempted from military service in 1913, then paid to the Auxiliary Service from May 1917 to July 1919. Period during which he spent some time in the region of Salonika and from which he brought back drawings and watercolors. Demobilized on June 30, 1919, he returned home to Saint-Mars-du-Désert.
Classically trained, entered the National School of Fine Arts in Paris in 1919, joined by his brother Paul Lemasson (1897-1971) in 1920. He first attended the studio of the painter Fernand Cormon (1845- 1924) from 1920, then for ten years the fresco workshop of Paul Baudoüin (1844-1931), pupil of Puvis de Chavanne (1824-1898). He devoted himself for twenty-five years mainly to the decoration of churches: frescoes with fresh mortar. While carrying out his frescoes, he continued to paint in oil, watercolors, and pencil techniques. In 1927, he married Marie-Louise Lebon-Desmottes (1902-1991), a student in the studio of Maurice Denis (1870-1943), watercolorist and art bookbinder.
They lived in Paris and later Bordeaux. He died on May 29, 1982in Bordeaux.
In the beginning of December 2020, a large collection of his drawings appeared on sale on French Ebay. Several of these drawings are in the private collection of the author.
