Born on 10.03.1882 in Prijedor, died on 05.12.1931 in Sarajevo. He was one of the early 20th century pioneers of Bosnian painting within the European style and it is considered as one the Western European most notable watercolor artists. He started with his art studies at the age of 16 in the school of Risto Vukanović in Belgrade and later continued at the Art Academy in Vienna under guidance of Paja Jovanović. He subsequently gained a scholarship at the Prague Art Academy. In 1911 he opened a private art school in Sarajevo, the first of a kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He worked as a teacher in Tuzla gymnasium and in First Male Gymnasium in Sarajevo.
With the start of the Balkan wars, he volunteered for the Serbian army and moves to Kosovo and Macedonia. In Kumanovo, Macedonia, he created a cycle of 26 paintings which were exhibited in Belgrade and got huge success. His stay in south Serbia and Macedonia had a resolute impact on his style and color palette. Švrakić алсо visited Skopje around 1920 where he made series of watercolors from Skopje city scenes which were later reproduced as postcards from Serbia.
