One of the most prominent Serbian painters. Born in Chachak in 1873. Started her art education in Belgrade in 1891 at the Female Gymnasium and later in Drawing School. Later she became a student of Djordje Krstić and during 1896/97 attends the Art School of Kiril Kutlik. Studied at the Art Academy in Munich under guidance of Anton Aschbe and later Julius Ekster. She returned to Serbia in 1903. This is the beginning of her “Serbian Art period” where she organized the art group Lada and First Yugoslav Art Colony. After her stay in Paris in 1911, she returned to Belgrade where she opens an Art School. In the period between 1901 and 1911, she visited Macedonia multiple times where she painted folklore motives and people. With the beginning of the Balkan Wars, she volunteers in Serbian army and here artistic style became more patriotic. In 1915 she painted the Dushan Bridge in Skopje. During her Macedonian stay, she worked together with Paja Jovanovic. Soon after that, she died from typhus in Valjevo.
